Handling suspected cheating in Blackboard
Can Professors See What You Download On Blackboard To Excel
Hi .. newbie here. Tees maar khan 720p download torrent.
Curious how folks handle it (if you choose to say something) to a student you feel certain has cheated on an online exam when you know you can't prove it.
This is my first semester teaching an online class. Using Blackboard (also my first time using Blackboard as faculty, though I used it as a student in grad school). Also, I am a relatively new adjunct. This is my fourth semester teaching. Due to a colleague having a heart attack, I am teaching 15 hours at two universities. 12 of those are courses I've never taught before. All that to say, I am in a crazy situation and barely treading water right now. My learning curve-- new university, new LMS, new courses, and most of it last minute -- has been really tough, and I can't tell you how many hours I'm working right now. All that to paint the picture of why, perhaps, this isn't worth worrying about right now. But it's really bothering me regardless, and I need input ..
- If you use the mashup through Blackboard, you can see information on individual user views. If you use the standard embed code, you can only get general statistics (how many times was this video viewed). So it sounds to me like Blackboard isn't meeting your expectations, but what you want is still completely possible.

- Does everyone at NYU know that professors can see how much time each student has spent on their Blackboard site? Some students know and could care less. Others throw a bit more paranoia into the mix and make sure to leave their internet windows open for prolonged periods of time Hes just not that into you download.
- Handling suspected cheating in Blackboard (self.Professors) submitted 2 years ago. Online students have to download it, but that's just part of the course. An essay or short answer. You can create any kind of essay or short answer question you want. If they cheat on that, you can catch them easily because you see what everyone else.

My online course has two exams. They comprise a little less than 20% of the total grade, so they are important, but they certainly don't make or break a student's grade. I say that just to acknowledge that I know better than to place too much stock in the integrity of online exams.
That being said, I work so hard to write these tests, trying to be fair and really challenging students to have to think when they take them--even though they are all T/F and multiple choice. And I DO NOT like the feeling of students who may be finding ways around having to do the work. It makes me feel pretty rotten, so I stew about this even though I am aware of the realities ..
This is an 8-week course wrapping up this weekend. One of my students (who is definitely not the brightest and strikes me as one who would cheat) got a 96 on the final exam -- taking it at the very last minute and completing 65 questions in 19 minutes. That's less than an average of 3.5 seconds per question. I don't think it's possible to really read the test that quickly and still have more than half a second to choose an answer. The average time it took for other students was well over an hour (it's timed for 90 minutes and I make it open book/note). And on the first exam, which was the same number of questions and same time limit, he took well over an hour to get an 80 -- he didn't get that much smarter in four weeks, regardless of what a stunningly brilliant teacher I am :-)
I suspect that another student probably took pics or screen shots of the questions and answers and sold them to him (obviously I couldn't know who or prove that). I spent so much time just writing the questions I had that there was no way I could write a bunch more questions and give each student a randomized selection from a question bank -- I'll be able to add to it next time).
So yeah, I get it, it's an open-book and open-note test any way and not the biggest portion of the grade. I know better than to expect too much in this situation. But it bothers me a lot. I feel pretty rotten about his score. I'm considering sending him an email that subtly mentions I noticed the time it took him to take the test -- I don't know why exactly other than to subtly let him know I'm not as stupid as he may think .. Is there a point in doing this?
What are your thoughts on this? Do you just let it go? Or would you at least ask the student to explain? Does a professor, in reality, have any power here? Because I think I just feel really powerless.

Make sure that you aren’t using your entire email address as the username. Only enter the first part of your email address (without the @hartford.edu). Make sure that you are using only the last four digits of your University ID number as the password. If that doesn't work, click the Forgot Password link and fill out one of the two forms. An e-mail will be sent to your Hartford email account with a link to reset your password.
How do I access my Blackboard courses?
Go to Blackboard home, and log in with your username and password. The first thing you see when you log in is your Blackboard Home Page. This includes announcements and links to your Blackboard Courses, as well as some useful tools like a Calendar, Tasks, and other Blackboard features. Your Blackboard courses will appear in a list to right under a heading titled “My Courses.” To enter a class, click the name of the course.

I logged into Blackboard, but I don’t see my courses anywhere!
Students will be automatically enrolled into Blackboard courses when they register for courses at the University of Hartford. If you do not see any of your courses listed under the “My Courses” heading, it may be that your instructors are not using Blackboard this semester, or have not yet made the course available to students. Generally, instructors will tell you on the first day of class if they plan to use Blackboard in a course. Please contact the professor first to see if the course is available.
